Dr Karen Taylor is the Nurse Educator for the WA Cancer and Palliative Care Network and has completed a PhD in survivorship research at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle. Her research involved a randomised controlled trial of a nurse-led lymphoma survivorship model of care intervention at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth Western Australia. Karen has 28 years of nursing experience, starting her career in Tasmania as a hospital trained nurse. Karen has worked across many hospitals in various states of Australia, predominately in Cancer care and more specifically malignant haematology / haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. She is passionate about patient-centred care and helping patients regain life after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Karen has completed a post-registration nursing degree, a Graduate Diploma in Oncology (with Distinction) and a Master of Nursing. She has completed Cert IV’s in: Assessment and Workplace Training (A&WT), Training and Assessment (TAA), Community Education and Counselling. Karen has coordinated and taught a Post Graduate Haematology Nursing course and worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle. Karen has lectured, presented at conferences, published in peer reviewed journals and provided peer review for journals throughout her career.
